You’re a group of young hopefuls between 14 and 16 years old from Mother’s Heart. You’ve all gathered together to participate in the Proving, a nerve racking, but exciting rite of passage you all must go through to become full-fledged members of the tribe. You’ve grown up together, practiced together, trained together, and even though you don’t all see eye to eye, the idea of now competing against each other is hard to fathom. But the night before the big day, an ill-advised excursion to steal some time together away from the adults’ prying eyes results in an accident that puts your group into much greater danger than the Proving ever could. You’re all going to have to grow up pretty quick, and suddenly it’s not exploiting each other’s weaknesses, but coaxing out each other’s strengths that could mean the difference between life and death.
